Pandingsi Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Himalayan South Belt. The Pandingsi Formation was erected by Liu Guifang and Wang Sien in 1987. The section for the designation is at Xishan around the Gucuo Village of Sidaoban along the China-Nepal Highway from Tingri to Nyalam, Xizang. It is a lower-middle part of the Gucuocun Gr and its nomination refers to latter. The present lexicon refer it to the Gucuocun Gr

Lithology and Thickness
The Pandingsi Formation is represented by gray black and gray silty mudstone intercalated with small amounts of gray and yellow green fine sandstone with an increase of sandstone upward. The formation is 128.3 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Its base marked by gray black silty mudstone lies conformably on the underlying Qumanhe Fm.
Upper contact
Regional extent
The present formation is mainly distributed in the Gucuo area. It is persistent in lithology and represented by clastic rocks, characteristic of sea trough marginal-external shelf facies deposition.

It yields ammonites Thurmanniceras jenkinsi, T. cf. stippi, T. ? sp. in the Gucuo area.
